Open Reports Panel for Designers
Inside the Open Report Panel the Designer will view only part of the existing reports.
- Unpublished Tab: The Designer will only be able to view and edit the reports created by them.
- Reports by Menu Tab/Reports by Template Tab: The Designer will be able to view only the reports they have access to, considering their set Reports Permissions. They can open these reports but cannot modify it. Both the Report Settings Panel and the Contents Panel will be displayed in read-only mode.
Designer can build reports using existing lists or creating Report Lists
When a Designer builds a new report or edits an unpublished report as report contents in the Settings Panel, they can:
- Create a new Report List, which will be used for this report only.
- Reuse a Report List they have already created for this report.
- Select an existing Shared List. In this case the list will appear as read-only in the Contents Panel.
- Create a copy of an existing Shared List, the copy will be created as Report List. To make it in the Select List panel, select the list and click Use Selected List to create a private copy.
Designer can create Drill-lists and Formats
For each Report List, linked to their Report, designer can create specific Linked List (created for the drill-down from a member of that list) and Formats.
Create a Linked List
Double click on the Drill attribute of the list member and select New Linked List.
Create a List Format
List Formats can be created in two ways:
Click List Formats in the Contents Panel and proceed to click New Format in the List Formats popup.
Double click on Format attribute (or Header attribute) of a list member in the Contents Panel and proceed to select Create Linked Format from the dropdown.
Designer can reuse their own previously created lists
When designer creates a copy of their own report lists (but not drill lists), this list will be copied together with all drill lists linked to it. To make the drill list available to be used in other reports, designer should create it on a report level first and then copy it to the desired report.
How an administrator promotes reports
Reports created by designers are visible to Report Admins under the Unpublished Tab in the Open Report Panel. They will appear grouped under the name of the designer who created them.
Report Admin can publish these reports as all other reports, that is, selecting the report in the panel, clicking on the gear that will appear and selecting Place in Menu option.
At the time of publishing a report the Admin can decide to keep the report as editable or not for the designer.
Once the report is published, the designer will be able to view (if they have permission for the report under Reports Permissions) and will be able to edit the report if given access by the admin.
